When Safety Car Fails

During a caution period the safety car enters the track ahead of the leader. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Competitors are not allowed to pass the safety car or other competitors during a caution period, and the safety car leads the field at a pre-determined safe speed, which may vary by series and circuit. Tom Cruise Cruising In Red Bull F1 Car

<div style="text-align: justify;">During recent visit to United State, Red Bull F1 team not only <a href="http://aibob.blogspot.com/2011/08/can-cowboy-catch-red-bull-f1-car.html">playing catch-up game with some cowboy</a>. They also conduct special test with legendary Hollywood actor Tom Cruise. Cruise took a break from his current film project, Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, to get behind the wheel at the Willow Springs circuit in California.</div><br><div style="text-align: justify;">The seven-hour session was supervised by David Coulthard. They began by lapping the track together in a road car before Coulthard helped Cruise familiarise himself with the F1 machine, which was also supported by a 12 person crew from Red Bull's UK factory.</div><br><div style="text-align: justify;">After a total of 24 laps, with time out between track stints to compare his telemetry to Coulthard's, Cruise cut his initial lap time by an impressive 11 seconds and reached a top speed of 181 mph, just 4 mph short of Coulthard. </div><br><div style="text-align: justify;">Cruise, a long-time motorsport fan, has driven several competition cars over the years, but this was his first F1 experience. It was the first McLaren to be powered by a Honda V12 engine. The car was tested by Gerhard Berger in the off season, but he was unimpressed with the new engine, feeling it was underpowered for what it was, especially compared to Honda's V10 engine in the previous year's car.
