What Is Electricity?
- Electricity was name by William Gilbert (1544-1603)
- Invented the word “electricity” from the Greek word “electron” meaning amber
- What if amber? Amber is fossilized resin material used in jewellery
- Everything is made of atoms
- Atom consists of electrons, protons, and neutrons
- Electrons (-ve charge) are attracted to protons (+ve charge), this holds the atom together
- Electrons can be made to move from one atom to another, this is called a current of electricity
